- HOUZIAUX Alain - L’absurde et la grâce
Following the condemnation of Jesus by Pontius Pilate, there were periodic persecutions of christians by the roman authorities over the next three centuries. The author analyses the reasons why Jewish communities played an active part in these persecutions. From the beginning they understood that christianity would appear as an uncontrolled extension of judaism and would therefore be a threat to the privileged status granted to jewish religion by the roman authorities.
The turn of century presents a challenge to the Churches’ public proclamation. It gives them an opportunity of focusing attention on the message of the Jubilee as much more than a precept of the First Testament: the Jubilee is a perspective within which is placed the Gospel preaching concerning the Kingdom. After pointing out the importance of the Jubilee throughout the Scriptures, Antoine Nouis opens up possibilities for actualizing relevant preaching.
Faith, as generally accepted, gives meaning to life and to the world. Alain HOUZIAUX challenges this understanding. He claims that not only are life and the world absurd even to believers, but also that the recognition of this absurdity is the necessary corollary of confessing « justification by grace alone ». Given this recognition, he then proceeds to show that we presume and induce the truth of a transcendant word pronounced over life and the world. He concludes that faith in this transcendant word is by no means absurd, though it is rooted in the absurd.

- CARDON-BERTALOT Philippe - Les accords eucharistiques luthéro-réformés : la Concorde de Leuenberg et ses suites, approches réformées.
Since the time of the Reformation, infant baptism has been an issue of contention in intra-protestant debates. Claire CLIVAZ argues that these debates stem from a recurring difficulty in relating sola gratia and anthropology, on the one hand, and in recognizing without restriction the sacramental status of baptism, on the other hand. She also addresses the consequences of this tension for churches today and suggests some practical mesures for churches in the celebration of baptism for all ages.
The Concord of Leuenberg, and the other texts which have followed and completed it, allow to surpass the lutheran-reformed differences upon the Lord’s Supper, inhereted from the XVIth Century. These agreements are the consequence of an evolution of the minds and of the eucharistical piety. This mutation, and the recent rediscovery of the value of the rit to express the faith, have conducted the ERF (French reformed Church) to discuss in a recent Synod the question of the renewal of its symbolical and sacramental pratice. But the call for an ethically understanding of the Lord’s Supper remains strong amid the Reformees. The present text wants to show how the second perspective is well-founded, but expects also to recognize the shares of the other one.

- HIMBAZA Innocent - Entre culture et théologie, une lecture d’Esther 1
The first chapter of the book of Esther is about the disgrace of Queen Vashti, the wife of King Ahasuerus (Xerxes), and the question of her replacement. Aside from the narrative questions which open the way for different interpretations, the text regulates a cultural matter in a world different from that of the modern-day reader. One is thus invited to put oneself in the place of those who lived in that culture, in order to understand the values which constitute the basis of familial harmony in that society.
